Welcome to Cub Pack 23

Cub Scouting is a family-based activity. Pack 23 provides age appropriate, character building activities for boys and girls in Kindergarden (Lion Scout) grades 1 through 3 (Cub Scout) and grades 4 & 5 (Webelos). Although many start cub scouting in first grade, you are welcome to join at any time! Our scouts come from many of the surrounding elementary schools including Beaver Creek, Collegium, East Ward, as well as other schools in the Downingtown and Coatesville School Districts.
We meet at Central Presbyterian Church for Pack Meetings on the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM where the Cubs receive the awards, which they have been working on over the month. Den meetings occur on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 6:30 PM.

PURPOSE OF CUB SCOUTING
“Fun with a purpose.”
The Cub Scout program is a fun and educational experience concerned with developing values, building character, improving physical fitness, learning practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service. The Cub Scout program emphasizes caring, nurturing relationships between Scouts and their parents, adult leaders and friends, and to show how to be helpful and do one’s best.
UNIFORM
Cubs and Webelos are expected to wear their “Class A” uniform to all den and pack meetings and on all outings, unless otherwise announced or arranged. The uniform helps to encourage a neat appearance, a sense of belonging, and self-respect by displaying the individual Cub’s accomplishments.
Pack 23 considers a “Class A” uniform to consist of: Cub Scout shirt, rank specific neckerchief & slide, Cub Scout belt, blue jeans or shorts (that can support a belt) can be worn in place of regulation pants, appropriate footwear sneakers, boots or shoes. Rank specific hats are optional.
Pack 23 will provide:
- one piece “23” pack number
- appropriate rank neckerchief
New Cubs are required to purchase:
- Official navy blue Cub Scout shirt*
- neckerchief slide (Pack will supply neckerchief)
- Cub Scout blue belt
- Chester County Council strip
- World Crest emblem (purple circle with fleur de lis)
- Den number strip (Pack will specify the den number)
* Webelos may purchase the official tan Scout shirt and blue shoulder loops in place of the navy blue shirt.

MEETINGS
Den meetings are held at 6:30 - 7:30pm on the first and third Thursday of the month at CPC (Central Presbyterian Church). Pack meetings are held at 6:45 - 7:45pm on the last Tuesday of the month at CPC. The primary purpose of a pack meeting is to present awards and recognize the achievements of your Cub Scout and his peers. Announcements, handouts and sign-ups for coming events are also shared. Parents are expected to accompany their scout(s), and siblings are welcome to attend.
Cubs and a parent (or adult guardian) are expected to attend all Pack Meetings and Den Meetings. If a meeting is missed, please contact your Den Leader to find out what was missed.
ACTIVITIES
In Cub Scouting, Scouts participate in a wide variety of den and pack activities, such as games, projects, skits, songs, outdoor activities, and field trips. It provides a positive way for parents and their children to grow closer, and encourages quality time together. In this way, Cub Scouting is a program for the entire family, and parental involvement is vital to the program’s success.

ADULT LEADERSHIP
Adult leadership is ESSENTIAL to Scouting, and your help is needed! To help make the program successful, exciting and fun for your Scout(s) and their peers, the Pack needs adults that will donate some of their “free” time to help. You’ll be here anyway, so you might as well get involved and maybe even have some fun of your own!
